Don't Miss Out on Summer School Holiday Fun - Book In Advance!
What’s the risk of leaving summer school holiday planning to the last minute? A cacophony of “I’m boooored”, kids inflicting guilt trips on their remorseful mothers and a general sense of chaos in the household. But it doesn’t have to be that way. There are so many school holiday activities on offer – many you may never have considered before – that there’s no need for idle children and frazzled parents. And remember, if you don’t book summer school holiday camps, classes and child care early on, you could miss out!
We all love our kids dearly, so we want them to enjoy fulfilling, fun summer school holidays and build wonderful childhood memories. Think back to when you were a child. Didn’t you love going to the zoo, enjoying picnics in the fresh air with friends and family and hanging out at the beach all day? These are brilliant ideas that kids love and you don’t have to reinvent the wheel.
Learning without even realising it
There are plenty of educational school holiday activities that will satisfy Mums and Dads and delight the children. Try a trip to the Science Centre in your area or the museum or art gallery. During summer school holidays, these venues put on special kid-friendly exhibitions with interactive things to encourage participation.

Kids’ cooking classes
Give a kid a sandwich, he’ll eat it up. Teach a kid to cook, you’ll set him up for life! Truly, with the current craze surrounding Junior Masterchef, which child wouldn’t be absolutely thrilled to indulge in a little kitchen-messing fun? They’ll learn new skills and you might be able to get them to whip up a batch of Chocolate Crackles or a quiche from that day onward! Kids’ cooking classes are definitely a productive, exciting and educational school holiday activity!

For animal lovers
Try the zoo for a wonderful family day out. Take along a bunch of pint-sized friends and feed the kangaroos, hold the koalas and enjoy a picnic. School holiday activities that involve animals are always favourites because children spend so much time indoors these days and rarely get the opportunity to mingle with our furry, feathered and finned friends. How about an aquarium visit, or even asking your local vet for a tour of their hospital? Or just get outdoors and meet the natives. They’re often not as far away as you think! The summer school holidays are the perfect time for locating lizards, koalas and all kinds of birdlife.

Check out the summer school holiday calendar of your local gymnastics club or even a visiting circus school! Imagine the excitement of seeing your kids do tightrope walks, trapeze acts and clown activities! Many states have organisations that offer these kinds of classes; all age-appropriate, of course!
Above all, remember to book well in advance for summer school holiday activities as they are hugely popular. Consider drawing up a calendar and preparing the weeks’ activities ahead of time so you can schedule your regular errands in as well and not miss important appointments. Our children are only this age once ... enjoy the holidays with them every single year!
