Young Filmmakers Workshop
3-day intensive filmmaking workshop for 11-16 year olds
Wed 5 - Fri 7 October 2011
This workshop teaches the fundamentals of filmmaking, from script to screen. Participants will have the opportunity to write, act, shoot, light, direct, edit, add a soundtrack, and produce their own short film project.
- Participants are divided into three groups and create:
- A Short Film
- Television Commercial
- Theatrical Trailer
- ‘Behind the Scenes’ Documentary
Day 1: Brainstorming ideas, scripting and basic camera operation.
Day 2: Storyboarding, green screen and interior/exterior shoot.
Day 3: Final Cut Pro editing.
Enrolment allows students to join an established collective of over 300 young Sydney filmmakers and become part of the Young Filmmakers community, receiving regular updates and invites to screenings and special events. Films produced during the school holiday workshops have screened and been awarded at TropJr.
Tutor: Kath Davis
Kath is a Sydney based videographer, musician and composer who runs a video production business specialising in promotional and archival videography for government bodies, the corporate sector and the performing arts. Kath has also produced several short documentaries and TVC’s. She has worked in theatre and events in many organizational and technical areas including sound, lighting, stage-management, set design and construction and has a long history of teaching these various skills through community arts projects, training organisations and TAFE.
