There is something for everyone at Jenolan Caves.
Jenolan is nestled in rugged wilderness, between Lithgow and Oberon, in the scenic Blue Mountains World Heritage area. It is considered to be one of the world's finest and oldest cave systems. Jenolan offers guided tours of 11 spectacular caves (for all ages and fitness levels), adventure caving, ghost tours and underground concerts.
Jenolan village incorporates a range of bushwalks, from easy to strenuous, and native wildlife (including rare platypus). There are 2 restaurants and family accommodation for all budgets, from fully serviced rooms, to group and backpacker rooms to self-contained cottages.
Also at the NSW Tourism Awards 2008, Jenolan Caves won bronze in the Adventure Tourism category. For adults and kids from age 10, Jenolan's adrenalin-pumping adventure programs offer underground activities for beginners to veterans. Wearing headlamps and guided by professionals, experience-seekers explore, abseil, crawl, climb, squeeze, face their fears and conquer them, deep in the heart of a mountain. Try it!
During NSW school holidays, we offer a fascinating tour every night, including the spinetingling "Legends, Mysteries & Ghosts" tour (great for adults and older kids) and the "Off the Track" torchlight tour.
And recently, we started new day tours, designed for children age 6-14:
- Stones & Bones tour - This is an imaginative geological discovery tour of the ancient reef bed and fossil deposits. Great for families, this tour offers an opportunity to get off the formed pathways to experience some of those mysterious dark places that abound at Jenolan.
- Animal Discovery tour - Children will discover life forms inside and outside the caves. This tour includes a work book for children to complete and take home. Children can bring their own torch (head torches are great for this).
- Kids Club - Join a Jenolan Guide in exploring Jenolan's Caves by lamp light, following only your map and eye for discovery.
